Read the Manual Before Installation
Read and fully understand the Rabbit Board 4-Axis User Manual before installing, wiring, or operating the controller. Incorrect assembly or wiring can cause injury, unreliable operation, or damage to the controller and the connected equipment.
If you are not familiar with electrical installations or the connection of power and control components, ask a qualified electrician or electronics technician to complete the installation.
Disconnect All Power Before Working
Never make connections, disconnect cables, or perform maintenance while the CNC control box is connected to the mains supply. Fully isolate the system, disconnect all power sources, and verify that no residual voltage remains before touching any component.
Use suitable personal protective equipment, including approved protective eyewear, whenever you work inside the control box.
Use a Shielded Metal Enclosure
Install the Rabbit Board and the related electrical components inside a metal control enclosure that is firmly connected to protective earth. A correctly grounded metal enclosure helps protect the electronics, provides electromagnetic shielding, and reduces communication errors and false input triggering.
Keep mains wiring, motor power cables, VFD wiring, and low-voltage signal cables separated as much as practical. Follow good cable-routing practices and use shielded cables where required.
Install a Proper Emergency Stop System
The CNC system must have a properly designed emergency stop system that removes power from hazardous machine functions. Installation of mains-powered equipment and the emergency stop circuit must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the regulations and standards applicable to the final machine.
The Rabbit Board is an electronic motion controller and is not a functional safety device. It must never be used as the sole means of emergency stopping, mains isolation, or personnel protection. Professional and industrial installations may require a suitable isolator, contactor, safety relay, or other safety components.
Use Protective Earth and Star Grounding
Connect the metal control enclosure directly to protective earth (PE). All protective-earth connections must be secure and must follow the requirements of the electrical installation.
Use a central star-ground arrangement for the DC ground connections of the controller, motor drivers, and related low-voltage electronics. Bringing the ground references to a common point helps prevent ground loops and reduces electrical noise. Protective earth and DC signal ground serve different purposes and must be connected only as required by the system design and the equipment manufacturers.
Use Suitable Power Supplies and Protection
Power the Rabbit Board from a regulated 12V DC supply capable of providing at least 1.5A. Use high-quality, correctly rated power supplies from reputable manufacturers, with appropriate short-circuit, over-current, over-voltage, and over-temperature protection.
Provide adequate ventilation and follow the power-supply manufacturer's installation instructions. Before applying power for the first time, verify the supply voltage and polarity with a multimeter, inspect every connection, confirm protective-earth continuity, and make sure no loose wire can contact another terminal or the enclosure.
